Meta announces a slew of nuclear energy agreements

can't believe meta's moving to nuclear power lol, like they're gonna harness all the clean energy or what? but seriously tho, 6.6 gigawatts by 2035 is insane! and i'm low-key impressed that terrapower's natrium reactors are using sodium instead of water, that's some fancy tech it's great to see big companies like meta investing in clean energy sources tho, we need all the help we can get with climate change

Just think about all those AI models running on nukes! Like, we're basically gonna have to explain to our grandkids why some ancient Russian dude invented nuclear reactors in the first place But seriously tho, this is huge. Nuclear power is like, the only way we're gonna make AI scaling without killing ourselves with fossil fuels Meta's got some big plans and it'll be interesting to see how it all shakes out. OpenAI owning 4% of this deal? Like what even is that?

I'm not sure I fully get why big tech companies are going nuclear . Like, they're basically saying 'we need more power to make more money' and that's it. Don't get me wrong, reducing our carbon footprint is super important, but isn't there a better way to do it? We've got solar panels and wind turbines getting cheaper every year... shouldn't those be the ones powering their data centers instead of nuclear?

um so meta is investing in nukes what if it causes an accident like at three mile island tho? did they do any tests to make sure its safe? and how much money are we gonna have to pay for the electricity? i mean 6.6 gigawatts sounds like a lot but is that even enough power for their whole server farm?
