Hawaiian headwear, Beuys' bathtub and Nan Goldin's photo diaries – the week in art

This week, art lovers can immerse themselves in a world of cultural treasures and innovative exhibitions. In London, the British Museum has partnered with Hawaii community leaders and artists to create an exhibition that showcases the island's rich history and mythology through striking artifacts such as feathered war helmets and Captain Cook's gruesome gods.

The show, which runs from January 15th to May 25th, is a testament to the power of collaboration and cross-cultural understanding. Visitors can step into the world of ancient Hawaii, where majestic temples, intricately carved wooden masks, and beautifully crafted tapa cloth await their discovery.

Meanwhile, at Gagosian Davies Street in London, artist Nan Goldin has curated an exhibition showcasing her iconic photographs from 'The Ballad of Sexual Dependency.' This powerful display offers a glimpse into the life of this celebrated American photographer, whose work is both poignant and thought-provoking.

In another striking display, Thaddaeus Ropac gallery in London presents Joseph Beuys' bathtub as a thought-provoking sculpture that resonates with the darker themes of 20th-century Germany. The artist's innovative approach to art and his commitment to challenging societal norms continue to captivate audiences today.

Further along the exhibition trail, Georgia O'Keeffe's graphic works are being showcased at Gerald Moore Gallery in London. This celebrated American artist is renowned for her sensual landscapes and abstract compositions that have been a staple of modern art for decades.

At The Chapel in Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Marshmallow Laser Feast brings to life the magical world within a tree using innovative multimedia technology. This mesmerizing installation invites viewers to immerse themselves in an enchanting realm where fantasy and reality blend seamlessly.

Art has long been proven to have numerous physical and emotional benefits – making us happier, healthier, and more hopeful. This week's exhibitions offer a testament to this truth.

Last but not least, we pay tribute to the late amateur artist whose infamous 'monkey christ' mural mishap captured the hearts of many. A masterful painter by any account, his work continues to inspire new generations of artists.

Among this week's highlights is Esaias van de Velde's hauntingly beautiful painting "A Winter Landscape," which exemplifies the somber beauty of 17th-century Dutch art. Executed in 1623, this masterpiece showcases Van de Velde's exceptional skill as a draftsman and his ability to capture the essence of winter's bleakness.

Throughout these exhibitions, there is something for everyone – be it history, art, technology, or simply a moment of introspection. So grab your ticket, put on your thinking cap, and immerse yourself in this dazzling array of artistic creations that are sure to leave you enriched and inspired.

I'm so confused what's the point of having an exhibition just to show some old helmets 🤷‍♀️? I mean, don't get me wrong, it sounds super interesting but like why do we need feathers on our heads from ancient Hawaii? 🤔 And also is Captain Cook's face still a thing? I thought he was bad news 😒.

🤩 I think these exhibitions sound like a must-see for anyone who loves art 🎨. It's amazing how collaboration can bring different cultures together and create something truly special 💡. And it's great to see so many talented artists showcased in one place, from Nan Goldin to Georgia O'Keeffe 📸. I also love the sound of that Marshmallow Laser Feast installation - who wouldn't want to step into a magical world within a tree? 🌳✨

🎨 The art world is really stepping up its game right now! I mean, collaborating with Hawaii community leaders for a show that showcases their history and mythology? Genius! 🤯 And showcasing Nan Goldin's work, which is so powerful and thought-provoking... it's like she's speaking straight to your soul. 💔

And have you seen those exhibitions on Joseph Beuys' bathtub sculpture? I mean, what even is that? 😂 But in all seriousness, it's a reminder of the power of art to challenge societal norms and make us think.

I'm not gonna lie, I'm a bit skeptical about the 'artistic genius' of some of these artists. Like, how many people can actually do something as simple as painting a beautiful winter landscape? 🤔 I mean, Esaias van de Velde was a draftsman, not a painter... but still, his work is gorgeous.

But what really gets me excited is the way art can bring us all together. Whether you're into history, technology, or just something to make you feel good, there's always something for everyone at an exhibition like this. So yeah, grab a ticket and get ready to be blown away! 🤩

🤩 Omg what's not to love about these exhibitions?! I mean, ancient Hawaii artifacts alongside American photography that'll make you cry and then Dutch art from the 17th century? Mind. Blown. 🤯 The collaboration between different cultures is insane! And Thaddaeus Ropac gallery's Joseph Beuys installation? Genius! Can't wait to see Marshmallow Laser Feast's tree installation in Yorkshire Sculpture Park... sounds like a dream come true! 🌳❤️

I'm tellin' ya... exhibitions like these are just gettin' better and better 🤩. I mean, who doesn't love a good ol' fashioned art show? And the fact that they're collaboratin' with different communities and artists is just fantastic 💖. It's like they say, "art brings people together"... ain't that the truth? 😊

And I gotta say, some of these exhibits are just mind-blowin'! Like, Nan Goldin's stuff... wow... it's like lookin' into the soul of America 🌎. And Joseph Beuys' bathtub sculpture? What a concept, right? 🤯 It's like he's sayin', "Hey, let's talk about some dark stuff, but in a cool way"... and I'm here for it 😎.

But what really gets me is how art can just transport you to another world. Like that Marshmallow Laser Feast exhibit... oh man, it's like stepin' into a fairy tale 🌳. And the fact that they're usin' tech to bring it all together? Genius! 💻

Anyway, I'm so stoked to see people gettin' out and enjoyin' these exhibitions. It's just what we need more of... good vibes and art 🎨💕.

I'm not convinced about all these exhibitions 🤔. I mean, have you seen the prices they're charging for tickets? It's like they're trying to rob us blind 💸. And what's with all the fuss over Nan Goldin's photos? Just a bunch of old pictures from decades ago 📸. Meanwhile, I could be spending my time exploring the real art of technology - like 3D printing or something 😒. Not impressed by some fancy multimedia installation in a tree either... sounds like just a bunch of hooey to me 🤷‍♂️. Give me a good ol' fashioned book any day 📖.

I'm loving the vibe of these exhibitions 🎨🌴! It's amazing how art can transport us to different worlds and cultures. The collaboration between the British Museum and Hawaiian community leaders is a great example of cross-cultural understanding 💕. But at the same time, I do think it's a bit crazy that we're still looking at some pretty dark stuff in these exhibitions... like Beuys' bathtub 🚽. It's all about balance, right? We need to acknowledge the harsh realities of history and art while also celebrating the beauty and creativity that comes out of them 💥.

And can we talk about how awesome it is that art is still proven to have a positive impact on our physical and emotional well-being? 🌿💆‍♀️ It's so important that we make time for self-care and creative expression in our lives. These exhibitions are definitely giving me some inspiration for my own creative projects 🎨🔥.

omg u r gonna love dis week's exhibitions in london!!! 🤩 the british museum is teaming up with hawaii community leaders & artists 2 showcasin the islands rich history & mythology thru ancient artifacts 🌺🏯 meanwhile, nan goldin's iconic photos are on display at gagosian davies street... so poignant & thought-provoking! 💔 thaddaeus ropac gallery has joseph beauys' bathtub sculpture - mind blown! 🤯 and don't miss georgia o'keeffe's graphic works @gerald moore gallery, she's a modern art legend!!! 🎨

I'm so stoked about these new exhibitions! 🤩 The British Museum's collaboration with Hawaii community leaders is, like, totally game changing. I mean, who wouldn't want to explore ancient Hawaiian mythology through artifacts? 🌺 It's all about cultural exchange and understanding, you know? 👍 And Nan Goldin's photography show at Gagosian Davies Street? Mind blown! 💥 Her work is so raw and emotional, it's like you're right there with her. 🤯

And can we talk about Thaddaeus Ropac gallery's Joseph Beuys exhibit? That bathtub sculpture is, like, whoa. 😲 It's all about challenging societal norms and pushing boundaries – exactly what art should be doing! 💪 Georgia O'Keeffe's graphic works at Gerald Moore Gallery are also giving me life! 🎨 Her sensual landscapes are, like, the ultimate art goals.

Marshmallow Laser Feast's tree installation at The Chapel is, honestly, magical ✨. It's like stepping into a fantasy world where reality and fantasy blend together in perfect harmony. And Esaias van de Velde's "A Winter Landscape" painting? Breathtaking 🌲 It's like you're right there with him, capturing the somber beauty of 17th-century Dutch art.

I'm not even kidding, these exhibitions are all about embracing art and its power to transform our lives. It's all about creativity, innovation, and pushing boundaries – exactly what we need more of in this world! 🌈

The more I learn about these exhibitions the less excited I get 🤔. A Hawaiian-themed show at the British Museum sounds cool, but feathered war helmets just look like something out of a bad historical drama film... 🎬. Nan Goldin's pics are always powerful, but is this just a collection of old pics or is there really something new to see? 📸. And what's up with Joseph Beuys' bathtub? Is that really art? 🚿. Don't get me wrong, I love Georgia O'Keeffe as much as the next person, but all these exhibitions just feel like a bunch of curated cool stuff to wealthy Londoners... 💸.

I'm loving all these exhibitions in London! 🎨 But I gotta fact-check some of the claims... did you know that Nan Goldin's "The Ballad of Sexual Dependency" is actually a photography project based on her grandmother's diaries, not just any ordinary photos? 💡 Also, Joseph Beuys' bathtub sculpture was a response to the 1972 IRA bombing in Germany, which killed several people and injured many more... pretty heavy stuff! 🤯 And, I'm not sure if Marshmallow Laser Feast really brought life to a tree using multimedia tech... sounds like some magic ✨. Anyway, it's all about art and exploration, right? So, what do you think of these exhibitions? Should we check the facts before getting too carried away with the creative vibes? 🤔

I don’t usually comment but... I think the exhibits at The British Museum sound so cool 🤩! Showing Captain Cook's gods is a bit weird though... I mean, how did they come up with those designs? And feathered war helmets? It must have taken a lot of time and effort to create them. Also, I wish someone would do an exhibit about the history of photography in Hawaii – Nan Goldin’s work sounds really fascinating! 📸

🎨 I'm so stoked about these new exhibits 🤩! London is literally bursting with culture and art 🌈, from ancient Hawaiian artifacts to Nan Goldin's powerful pics 📸. It's amazing how art can transport us to another time and place 🔥. Thaddaeus Ropac gallery has me intrigued too, especially Joseph Beuys' bathtub sculpture 🚿... it's like a darkly beautiful dream 💤. And Georgia O'Keeffe's graphic works? Mind blown 😲! Can't wait to visit these shows and get my art fix 💖

I'm so done with all these fancy exhibitions 🙄. Who needs to pay £20+ for a bunch of old stuff when you can just walk around the block and look at some street art that's actually relevant to people's lives? These museums are just a waste of time and money, if you ask me... I mean, what's the point of seeing some ancient Hawaiian helmet or an old painting from 1623? It's all just relics of a bygone era that don't really say anything about the world we live in today. And don't even get me started on how overhyped everyone is making these exhibitions out to be...

🎨 I'm loving the variety of exhibitions in London right now. Nan Goldin's show at Gagosian Davies Street is giving me all the feels - her photography is so powerful and thought-provoking 🤯. And have you seen Thaddaeus Ropac's gallery? They're showcasing some amazing work by Joseph Beuys, one of my favorite artists from 20th-century Germany 🌿.

I'm also stoked that Georgia O'Keeffe's graphic works are being shown at Gerald Moore Gallery. Her art is so iconic and influential - she's a true American artist legend 🇺🇸. And Marshmallow Laser Feast's installation at The Chapel in Yorkshire Sculpture Park? Mind. Blown. 🌳

The British Museum's collaboration with Hawaiian artists and community leaders is also really interesting - it's amazing to see how art can bring people together across cultures 🌈. And I love that they're showcasing artifacts like feathered war helmets and Captain Cook's gruesome gods - talk about a fascinating look into ancient history 🔍.

All in all, these exhibitions are a great reminder of the power of art to inspire and educate us. Whether you're an art lover or just looking for something new to discover, there's something on offer here 🎉.

Love how the British Museum partnered with Hawaii community leaders and artists for this exhibition 🌺🏯! It's so cool to see people coming together to share their culture and history with the world. The artwork on display is stunning, especially the feathered war helmets - who knew they were even a thing? 😍 Can't wait to visit the show from January 15th onwards 💖

just saw the pics from this exhibition in london and im seriously blown away by the attention to detail on those feathered war helmets 🤯 its like stepping into a different world altogether! nan goldins exhibit is also giving me major feels i loved her work back in the day and seeing it up close again is just incredible 💕 cant wait to check out the greek sculptures too, something about that era just speaks to me on a deep level 🌊

I'm so stoked about all these sick exhibitions comin' up in London 🤩! The British Museum's collab with Hawaii community leaders is gonna be lowkey mind-blowing, if u know what I mean 🙏. And Nan Goldin's exhibit? Absolutely stunning 💔. Those iconic photos are still so hauntingly beautiful even after all these years.

I also love how they're showcasin' the darker side of German art history with that Joseph Beuys sculpture... it's like, whoa, what a thought-provoker 🤯. And Georgia O'Keeffe's graphic works? So feminine and gorgeous 💁‍♀️. I mean, have u seen her abstract compositions? Mind. Blown.

The multimedia tech at The Chapel is gonna be wild 🔥! Who wouldn't wanna step into an enchanted tree world? 😍 It's like they're sayin', "Hey, art isn't just somethin' you look at, it's an experience." And I'm here for that 🎉.

🤔 The fact that these exhibitions are happening simultaneously in London sounds like a dream come true for art lovers! But have you checked the dates? 📅 I've verified them, and it seems they're not entirely correct. January 15th is a bit early for some of these shows to start, and May 25th might be too late for others to end... just saying 😊
