"A great honor": Trump says he would accept Nobel Prize offered by Machado

US President Donald Trump has accepted an offer from Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado to take possession of her recently awarded Nobel Peace Prize, according to a recent White House interview. Trump expressed his enthusiasm for meeting with Machado next week, stating that he "looks forward to saying hello" to her.

When asked about Machado's offer, Trump confirmed that she had indeed extended the prize to him, although it is unclear whether he has actually accepted the award. The President claimed that not receiving the Nobel Peace Prize was a "major embarrassment" to Norway and that he "ended eight wars," a statement widely regarded as false.

The decision to accept Machado's offer appears to be in line with Trump's long-held desire for a Nobel Peace Prize, which was reportedly a major factor in his refusal to support her bid to lead Venezuela following the capture of President Nicolás Maduro. In contrast, Machado praised Trump for his intervention in Venezuela and offered him her Nobel Prize as a gesture of respect.

According to White House insiders quoted by the Washington Post earlier this month, Trump's decision not to support Machado was motivated by his desire for the Nobel Peace Prize, with one insider stating that if she had declined the offer, she would be the "president of Venezuela today."

🙄 can you believe this? so trump wants a nobel peace prize just because he thinks it's cool now. newsflash don't accept something just cuz u r desperate for some validation. what's next? is he gonna say thanks but no thanks to the state department too? 🤣 and btw, did machado really think accepting a nobel peace prize would make trump change his mind about venezuela? i mean, we all know trump doesn't care about anyone or anything except himself 😂

OMG 🤯, can you believe this?! So Trump is basically taking away a Nobel Peace Prize from a woman who's actually doing some good in Venezuela 🙌. I mean, Machado has been a thorn in Maduro's side and has been advocating for peace and democracy in that country. But nope, Trump just waltzes in and grabs the prize for himself 💁‍♂️.

I don't get why this is a thing at all. Like, what even is the point of having a Nobel Peace Prize if it's just going to be given away by some random person? It's supposed to be about recognizing real achievements and promoting peace, not just being a trophy for whoever wants it most 🏆.

And let's be real, Trump has been all over the place on this whole Venezuela thing. One minute he's talking about supporting Machado, the next he's refusing to back her bid for president 🤷‍♂️. This whole situation is just so... Trump 😒.

🤔 This is a total joke, right? The guy who refused to acknowledge the severity of climate change and basically tore apart international relations as President is now trying to claim a Nobel Peace Prize? 🙄 I mean, come on, María Corina Machado has been working tirelessly to bring democracy and stability to Venezuela for years, and Trump is just suddenly interested in being recognized for his "efforts"? 🤑 The fact that he's using her Nobel Peace Prize as some sort of ego-stroking trophy is just sad. And let's not forget, the guy who's been making headlines with his inflammatory rhetoric and divisive policies is now trying to play the victim and claim that not getting a Nobel Peace Prize was an "embarrassment"? 🙄 Give me a break...

I think its pretty shady how Trump is trying to take Machado's Nobel Prize, its like hes taking something thats not even his to begin with 😒. And lets be real, he didnt exactly have a stellar record on peace and diplomacy before this whole thing started. I mean, we all know about the wars in the Middle East and the way he handled things with North Korea...not exactly the poster child for peaceful leadership 🙅‍♂️. But hey, if Machado wants to throw her Nobel Prize at him like its going out of style, who am i to judge?

can u believe trump thinks he deserves a nobel peace prize? i mean, i guess its all about perception and optics at this point 🤔. but seriously, machado extending it to him is like, super generous... or maybe not so much? idk if we should be reading too much into the whole thing... what if its just a publicity stunt to distract from his actual accomplishments (or lack thereof)? 📰

🤔 This is just great, someone's gonna give a Nobel Peace Prize to the guy who thinks it's okay to tweet about nuking North Korea and still expects to win an award for peace... Like, no, dude. You haven't exactly been known for your diplomatic skills or peaceful intentions.

I mean, I guess if you're Venezuela right now, taking Trump up on his offer is better than nothing - but come on, it's a Nobel Peace Prize we're talking about! And Machado, who actually cares about the people of Venezuela and has spent her life working towards their freedom, is just like "oh well, I'll just give my prize to this guy instead". 🤷‍♀️

It's also pretty amusing that Trump is going on about ending eight wars - yeah, sure buddy, we've all seen those tweets from you. Maybe focus on actually doing some peace-building work instead of trying to claim credit for something you clearly didn't do? 😂

"Actions speak louder than words" 🗣️. It's quite interesting how Trump has accepted Machado's offer without explicitly saying so himself. I wonder what his real intentions are...

trump taking nobel peace prize from venezuela opposition leader machado is just crazy 🤯 what's next? giving awards to dictators and autocrats? this is what happens when politics meets ego 😒

omg i think its amazing how trump is actually taking maria corina machados nobel peace prize 🤩!! he seems so excited to meet her next week and i love how machado is showing respect to him, it's like she's saying "hey trump we value you too even if you didnt support me" 💖 what do u guys think about this??

OMG, I'm so surprised!!! 🤯 Trump accepting María Corina Machado's Nobel Peace Prize? That's a major turn around! 🔄 I mean, who would've thought that Trump would take up the prize from someone he didn't even support in the past? 😂 It shows how much he values his own ego over actual actions. Anyway, I'm curious to see what comes next - is this a genuine attempt at making peace or just another move for publicity? 🤔
