Beloved pop-up Amelia Street Pizza Co. plans Hazel Park shop - Detroit Metro Times

Amelia Street Pizza Co. to Open Brick-and-Mortar in Hazel Park, Backed by Acclaimed Chef James Rigato

A popular pizza pop-up, Amelia Street Pizza Co., is set to open its brick-and-mortar location in Hazel Park, a suburb of Detroit. The shop, which has gained a loyal following since its inception as a home-based operation, will be located at 951 E. Nine Mile Rd., and is expected to open in the spring.

The venture is backed by none other than James Rigato, the acclaimed chef behind Mabel Gray, one of Detroit's top-rated restaurants. Rigato has taken on an investor and mentorship role with Matt Arb, the founder of Amelia Street Pizza Co.

"I've wanted to open a pizza spot for a long time," Rigato said. "But this is not a Mabel Gray project. This is Matt's business and Matt's pizza." The focus will be on supporting Arb as he builds his brand, rather than imposing any significant changes.

Arb's pizzas have gained widespread attention online, with many praising the shop's signature sourdough crust and unique topping combinations. Despite its rapid growth, Amelia Street Pizza Co. has maintained a low-key approach, with a menu that is simple yet effective.

"We want to make sure our pizza still feels like a neighborhood spot," Arb said. "We're not trying to be anything we're not. We just want to serve the best pizza we can."

The shop's location, which is attached to a party store, may seem unconventional, but it has its advantages. The proximity to Mabel Gray and other high-end restaurants in the area could help attract foodies and locals alike.

๐Ÿ•๐Ÿ‘Œ I'm so stoked to hear that Amelia Street Pizza Co is finally getting a brick-and-mortar spot in Hazel Park! Matt Arb's pizzas are literally the real deal, and I've had the pleasure of trying them at their pop-up spots before ๐Ÿคฉ. The sourdough crust is everything and more - it's like a taste explosion in your mouth! And don't even get me started on the topping combinations... James Rigato backing this project is genius, btw. He's not going to mess with Matt's vibe, which is exactly what we need in this foodie scene. I'm low-key hyped that they're staying true to their neighborhood spot roots and not trying to be something they're not ๐Ÿ™. The location might seem weird at first, but trust me, it's going to bring in all the right crowd - foodies, locals, and people who just love good pizza ๐Ÿ˜Š. Can't wait to get my hands on a slice (or three) when they open! ๐Ÿด

Wow ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ• I'm so hyped for this new brick-and-mortar spot! James Rigato is bringing his expertise to Matt Arb's pizza pop-up and it's gonna be lit ๐ŸŽ‰! I love that they're keeping the menu simple yet effective, it's all about letting the pizzas speak for themselves. And can you imagine getting a sourdough crust from Amelia Street Pizza Co.? ๐Ÿคฉ The location might be quirky, but hey, being attached to a party store could actually work out well with the party vibe in Hazel Park! ๐Ÿ’ฅ

I don't usually comment but I think this is really cool! A brick-and-mortar location for a pizza pop-up sounds like a dream come true. And to have James Rigato backing the place? That's just awesome ๐Ÿคฉ. I mean, Mabel Gray is already an amazing restaurant so it's great that Matt Arb has found someone who believes in him enough to invest and mentor.

I love how Amelia Street Pizza Co. wants to stay true to its roots and keep things simple yet effective. A neighborhood spot with a focus on serving great pizza? That sounds like a recipe for success to me ๐Ÿ•๐Ÿ‘Œ. I'm curious to try it out when it opens in the spring!

idk why they chose that spot tho, party store attached to it? seems like it might get weird vibes lol ๐Ÿค” but hey if the pizzas are fire who cares where it is? i've been following arb's stuff online and his sourdough crust sounds on point ๐Ÿ• fingers crossed they can maintain that consistency when they open up

I'm super stoked for this new pizzeria opening up in Hazel Park! ๐Ÿ•๐ŸŽ‰ It's awesome that a well-known chef like James Rigato is backing Matt Arb and his pizza pop-up, Amelia Street Pizza Co. I've been hearing great things about their sourdough crust and unique topping combos online - can't wait to try it out for myself! ๐Ÿ˜‹ The fact that they're keeping it simple with no fancy-schmancy menu changes is a major win in my book... who needs all those extra frills when you've got delicious, handmade pizza? ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ Also, I love the idea of the pizzeria being attached to a party store - sounds like a fun spot to hang out with friends! ๐Ÿ’ฅ

omg I'm so hyped for this new pizzeria in Hazel Park!!! ๐Ÿ•๐Ÿ‘ Did you know that pizza sales have been growing at a rate of 6% annually since 2020? It's insane! ๐Ÿคฏ And with James Rigato on board, we can expect some serious culinary magic. ๐Ÿ”ฎ I mean, Mabel Gray is already one of the top-rated restaurants in Detroit, so this is like a no-brainer for pizza lovers everywhere.

And let's talk about that sourdough crust - have you seen the stats? ๐Ÿ“Š 71% of Americans prefer artisanal bread to traditional white bread. It's all about the texture and flavor, guys! ๐Ÿ’ช The best part is, Amelia Street Pizza Co. is still keeping it real with a simple menu, which I'm totally down for. Less options = less overwhelming, am I right? ๐Ÿ˜‚

I'm so stoked to hear that Amelia Street Pizza Co is finally getting a brick-and-mortar spot ๐Ÿ•๐ŸŽ‰ I've been following them online for ages and their sourdough crust is literally the best thing since sliced bread ๐Ÿคฏ Matt Arb's pizzas are always popping up on my feed and I'm obsessed with the unique topping combinations ๐Ÿ˜‹ The location might be weird, but if it attracts more foodies to Hazel Park, I'm all for it ๐ŸŒŸ And can we talk about how cool is it that James Rigato is backing them? Mabel Gray is one of my fave restaurants in the city and now I get to support another project from him ๐Ÿ™ Fingers crossed they live up to the hype! ๐Ÿ’ช

omg ๐Ÿคฉ i'm so down for a brick-and-mortar amelia street pizza co!!! ๐Ÿ• the fact that james rigato is backing matt arb's business is super exciting, especially since he's known for his attention to detail and commitment to quality ingredients.

i love how arb is keeping things low-key and true to their roots - simple menu, neighborhood vibe. it's refreshing to see a small business owner staying focused on what works instead of trying to be something they're not.

the location might seem weird at first, but i think it could be a game-changer for attracting foodies and locals who want to try the famous sourdough crust ๐Ÿคค. can't wait to check it out when it opens this spring!

๐Ÿ•๐Ÿ’ก I gotta say, this is a great reminder that even with success comes humility. Matt Arb and James Rigato are all about keeping it real, not trying to reinvent the wheel just for the sake of change. That's how you build a loyal following - by staying true to what works! And let's be honest, who doesn't love a good sourdough crust? ๐Ÿคฉ It's amazing how something as simple as a pizza can bring people together. The fact that they're keeping it low-key and neighborhood-focused is a lesson in itself. Sometimes the best things in life are the ones we don't try to put on a stage or make into a big deal. Just let your passion shine through, and the rest will follow! ๐ŸŒŸ

๐Ÿ• This is gonna be sick! I mean, who wouldn't want to try a pizza joint that's got the seal of approval from James Rigato? The fact that Matt Arb's pizzas have already gained so much attention online says a lot about the quality and uniqueness of their menu. And I love how they're keeping it real, no fancy-schmancy changes expected here! ๐Ÿ™Œ The location might be a bit unconventional, but like Matt said, it's all about making sure the pizza still feels like a neighborhood spot. Can't wait to see how this brick-and-mortar goes down and try some of that famous sourdough crust for myself! ๐Ÿ‘

I'M SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS NEW PIZZA SPOT COMING TO HAZEL PARK!!! I MEAN, WHO DOESNT LOVE A GOOD PIZZA?! AND THE FACT THAT IT'S BEING BACKED BY JAMES RIGATO IS LIKE, THE ULTIMATE RECOGNITION FOR MATT ARB'S COOKING SKILLS! I'VE TRIED AMELIA STREET PIZZA CO.'S POP-UPS BEFORE AND THEY'RE TO DIE FOR, ESPECIALLY THAT SOURDOUGH CRUST!!! IT'S GOING TO BE INTERESTING TO SEE HOW THEY FUEL THE LOCATION, BUT I'M SURE THEY'LL MAKE IT WORK - AFTER ALL, WHO NEEDS A fancy RESTAURANT WHEN YOU CAN JUST SERVE GREAT FOOD IN A NEIGHBORHOOD SPOT?!

I'm telling you, something fishy is going on with this new brick-and-mortar location ๐Ÿค‘. I mean, think about it - James Rigato, one of the most famous chefs in Detroit, backing a pizza place that's essentially just a pop-up from years ago? It sounds like a setup to me! Matt Arb doesn't stand a chance, if you ask me ๐Ÿ˜. And what's with the location attached to a party store? It's gotta be some kind of PR stunt, right? The guy wants to attract foodies and locals, but I'm not buying it ๐Ÿšซ. Amelia Street Pizza Co.'s just a pawn in Rigato's game, and we're all just watching as they cash in on the name recognition ๐Ÿ’ธ.

I'm stoked to see another awesome pizzeria popping up in Michigan! ๐Ÿ•๐Ÿ‘ James Rigato is a genius, and I love that he's supporting Matt Arb from the start. The idea of maintaining the shop's low-key vibe while still serving amazing pies sounds like a match made in heaven. And can we talk about the sourdough crust? ๐Ÿ˜ I've been following Amelia Street Pizza Co.'s journey online, and it's clear they're all about keeping it real and serving up some incredible flavors. I'm definitely gonna have to check out this new spot when it opens โ€“ spring can't come soon enough! ๐Ÿ’จ

Matt Arb's commitment to keeping it real and serving up top-notch pies is something we can all get behind ๐Ÿ’ฏ. And who better to support him than James Rigato, one of Detroit's culinary heavyweights? ๐Ÿ™Œ I'm curious to see how the shop's location will play out - party store attached or not, I'm sure they'll make it work! ๐Ÿค”

so they're opening a brick-and-mortar in Hazel Park, which is pretty cool... i mean, who doesn't love pizza? ๐Ÿ• but seriously, it's interesting to see James Rigato backing Matt Arb's business - like what made him think this was a good investment? ๐Ÿค” and i'm curious about the party store location, does that mean they'll have some fun events or parties there too? ๐ŸŽ‰ could be a great spot for foodies to hang out... do you guys think it'll be worth the trip from detroit proper?
