The destruction caused by the floods was striking, but so too was the bold demand made by Nepal's foreign minister to China, the United States, and India – the world's top three polluters – to compensate for the losses.
At first glance, this demand seems like a long shot. The big three emitters have consistently dragged their feet on climate action, making it hard to imagine them suddenly opening up their wallets to Nepal.
