Donald Trump has escalated tensions by warning Iran not to shoot protesters and stating that he would "come to their rescue". The US President made the comments during a meeting with oil executives in Washington, while discussing his plans for Venezuela.
Trump promised oil giants "total safety, total security" in Venezuela, aiming to persuade them to invest $100 billion in the country's infrastructure after US forces toppled Nicolás Maduro from power. Many of the executives expressed support for the Trump administration's actions in Venezuela last weekend and hinted that they stood ready to invest.
The President also warned Greenland is not up for lease and threatened to take military action if Russia or China occupy it, repeating his frequent refrain that he "saved" Nato. When asked why federal officials are not working with local authorities on the investigation into the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good, Trump said Minnesota officials were "crooked".

and btw, $100 billion investment in Venezuela? that's just pouring more money down the drain, imo... we already know how that ends

He's trying to flex his muscles again, but at what cost? Escalating tensions in the Middle East never ends well. And now he's throwing shade at the US federal officials, saying they're "crooked" – that's just unprofessional. The fact that he thinks he needs to make these public statements to prove a point shows how insecure he is about his own policies.
That sounds a lot like Russia just trying to assert its influence... can we trust Trump's read on this?
